Art Courses » Flowers, Trees, and Landscapes
This course will be held in the excellent location of Bicton College in Budleigh Salterton, where the two days will consist of workshops related to a wide range of starting points and ideas about working from nature and the landscape. We will seek to challenge your ideas and stimulate you to achieve work of quality at whatever stage you may be, a beginner or experienced painter! There is plenty to see in the grounds and gardens of Bicton College that present excellent opportunities for painting. Gardens, Plants, Flowers and Trees are all set in the beautiful landscape of Bicton College. The cost is £80 inclusive of teas / coffees. The course will run from 10am to 4pm on Wednesday April 14th and Thursday 15th April 2010. There will be a base classroom / studio at our disposal and tea / coffee will be provided on arrival, at lunchtime and in the afternoon. You will need to bring a packed lunch each day. We will begin the course with a talk to help you use your sketchbook to select starting points for your work. We will also talk to you about how to select a good subject for making a painting. You will then be free to choose places to work nearby. Your tutors will visit you during the day to offer advice on the progress of your work. We are happy to tutor you in any media you may wish to use. You will need a portable range of colours, acrylics, oils, watercolours, gouache or coloured pencils, drawing pens, pencils and any other lightweight materials that you fancy using. Have a small screw top bottle for water together with a small plate / palette for mixing colour. A lightweight sketching stool / a chair are needed so that you can work outside in comfort! If you wish you may work inside in the classroom area. Parking is convenient and access is fairly level. Toilets are situated close by the base room. Tables are available but please bring your sketching easel. If you would like to join this course please complete the booking form and return to Wendy Jones. Finding your way to the course. Enter Bicton College through the main white archway on the Budleigh to Newton Poppleford road. Do not mistake the entrance with Bicton Gardens! Continue up the drive till you reach the mini roundabout then bear right and follow the signs for the Garden Centre. This will take you round to the back of the main house. Continue till you reach some large greenhouses on the left and park where you can. We will be watching out for you to show you to the classroom. Please note - In mid January we have to pay a substantial deposit to ensure the booking at Bicton. It would help us a great deal if you could let us know quickly - then we will make the booking firm. (Phone, Email or write) - You can of course send your deposit at a later date. |
