Howard Jones » France "I have spent many summers visiting Provence staying in Aix-en-Provence. It was almost inevitable that Mont St. Victoire would become a theme that I revisited many times for my work. In all villages in Provence there is a fountain and in many there are goldfish living happily. I found these an interesting and colourful subject for a series of paintings. This gallery has some images that were painted in France, particularly, in Haute Provence and the hills of the Luberon. The Pyrenees is another region where I have painted many times. Together with Wendy we spent many summers in these wild and beautiful landscapes where the light is so intense, the colours vivid, and the wine is warm!"
