Wendy Jones attended Bournville School of Art and Westbourne College, Birmingham. She specializes in paintings with botanical themes. She has had many one-woman shows in England and France and has exhibited with the Society of Women Artists, the Royal West of England Academy and the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. Between 1991-1997 she was Associate Adviser for Art in Devon and 1995-1997 became Director of Courses at the Beaford Art Centre, Devon. "Most of my paintings have botanical subjects as a main theme. Plants make an important contribution to our everyday life in varied forms including food, drink and medicines. They beautify our most momentous occasions of birth, marriage and death. They enrich our environment and the gardens we create. Throughout history we have availed ourselves of the symbolic and curative power of plants. Some have made use of their darker side of magic, superstition, narcotics and poisons. It is this knowledge, together with a fascination for the infinite variety of colour, form and detail that leads me constantly to return to this inspiration for my paintings. Frequently the nature of my work demands most careful observation and detail to interpret and explore the qualities of my chosen subjects. I hope that spectators will also find some enjoyment and perhaps a little awe and wonder in the vast variety of structures and colours to be found in the world of plants." The prices of Wendy’s paintings range from £300 to £1400. A range of signed limited edition (100) prints are also available mounted unframed. Prices range from £60 to £70. Please Email for details. |
